I think that Korean cultures tend to be not only indigenous, but also diasporic. When we receive different cultures, we try to make it fitting and acceptable to Korean cultures in a transformative way. If we fail to do so, we probably reject it. On the other hand, many Korean people who live in different nations are influenced by the various and different cultures without homogenizing. I agree with the idea of the new globalism that declares “local independence and global interdependencies” (p. 188). I think that all cultures including colonized and colonizer have the same situations living in indigenous and diasporic that challenges them to embrace “hybridity and heterogeneity” (p. 187). I think that Korean American churches should take this attitude and approach towards different cultures and religions for God’s mission.
